Designed to improve the mental well-being of society’s unsung heroes, TAP (Thank And Praise) is a social thanking platform. It encourages the public to show their appreciation to social care workers and those working in healthcare and education.
Free for organisations and the public, TAP uses a Social Care Thanking Wall. This enables the public to post messages of thanks, alongside providing bespoke Thanking Walls for social care organisations.
As well as raising funds for good causes, TAP wants to recognise and address the mental health of care workers and the effects that their work has on them. TAP believes that giving thanks is hugely beneficial—to both the recipient and the giver.
TAP: enhancing the mental wellbeing of key workers in healthcare and education
Launched in January 2019, TAP wants to create a positive world, where giving and receiving thanks is the norm—not the exception.
Thankers can thank a key worker privately, praise an education, social care or healthcare organisation publicly and raise funds for these organisations too. Organisations can thank their members of staff privately. Moreover, an education, healthcare or social care organisation can receive public praise and benefit from funds raised.
Q: Why was TAP established?
A: Co-founded by parents, Sandie and Phillip Curtis in 2019, TAP was inspired by the outstanding care that their special needs son Donavan received. Over the past 18 years, Donavan has received such excellent care that Sandi and Philip often felt overwhelmed and wanted to thank the staff who helped their son. However, they experienced difficulties in relaying messages to the education, social care and healthcare sectors. This combined with an awareness that staff often feel under-appreciated, contributing to poor staff wellbeing and staff retention.
“Our culture often seems driven to look for the worst, to highlight what is wrong, instead of giving thanks and praise for the good that can be found in so many. Especially in unsung heroes in education and healthcare. We can all contribute to making others feel worthy and appreciated by giving genuine thanks when deserved.” -Sandie and Phillip Curtis-
Q: What does TAP do?
A: Already making a positive impact on society, TAP focus on supporting key workers in the healthcare, social care and education sectors. It’s never been more important to show our gratitude, especially during such unprecedented times. TAP’s social thanking platform makes it easier for people to quickly and easily thank their unsung heroes. Their dream is to end the complaining culture and replace it with a culture of thanking and showing appreciation. TAP also encourages raising funds through donations to your chosen charity.
Q: Who can give thanks?
A: Anyone can give thanks to education, healthcare or social care organisations or a key worker. Equally, any education, healthcare or social care organisation can give thanks to their staff members. Messages of thanks to staff members and organisations are then sent via TAP’s thanking platform and shared on TAP’s public Thanking Walls and (subject to permission) on other public channels.
Q: How can I make a donation to my chosen charity through TAP?
A: Unlike other donation platforms, your donation is matched by one of TAP’s corporate partners. So your chosen charity will receive up to double the amount you donate. TAP’s corporate partners are suppliers to the education, social care and healthcare sectors. They’re also keen to support the key workers and organisations that you want to thank. You can even donate to your chosen charity in the name of a loved one and receive a donation certificate. For more information on this, visit: thankandpraise.com/donate/
